ROB KIERNAN is relishing an action-packed December as Rangers look to extend their advantage over Hibernian at the top of the Championship standings.

Mark Warburton’s side host Dumbarton tonight aiming to move three points clear of their title rivals and get a key month off to a perfect start.

After facing the Sons, Rangers will make the trip to Raith Rovers on Saturday before a home clash with Morton and away tie with Falkirk in their penultimate game this year.

The final outing of 2015 could prove to be one of their most important when Alan Stubbs’ side head to Ibrox for a promotion six-pointer.

And defender Kiernan is determined to maintain the momentum through the festive period to ensure Rangers are in pole position come the New Year.

He said: “It’s another game and hopefully another three points so we can make the gap that bit bigger. We will go into it as it being just a normal game.

“The first half on Saturday was very good, they made it difficult for us just as most teams do against us. It was good to get the reward of four goals.

“It was also good to come back from a disappointing result the previous week.

“There are a lot of games coming up so we definitely look at the fixture list.

“December is an important period, we just go into every game trying to win them and once that game is done we sweep it under the carpet and move on to the next one.

“I prefer lots of games coming up thick and fast and I think most of the lads do as well.

“We don’t look at Hibs coming up and say we need to win this game or that game, every game is important and we go into them trying to get three points.

“Obviously I’m aware we are in a title race, there are teams in and around us who I’m sure will be challenging. But we can only focus on ourselves.”
