CELTIC replaced Rangers at the top of the Ladbrokes Premiership as they continued their perfect start with a 4-1 victory over Aberdeen, after their Glasgow rivals drew 1-1 at Kilmarnock on Friday night. Here are five other things we learned from the weekend's action in Scotland's top flight.

CRAIG GORDON'S DAYS AS CELTIC NUMBER ONE APPEAR NUMBERED

Dorus de Vries replaced the Scotland international for the home game against Aberdeen and manager Brendan Rodgers claimed his former Swansea goalkeeper "orchestrated" play from behind. Rodgers has stressed that the Dutchman knows exactly what he wants from a ball-playing goalkeeper and he looks set to keep his place for high-profile games against Rangers and Barcelona.

JOE GARNER WILL BE WELL-ACQUAINTED WITH SCOTTISH REFEREES

Rangers' new signing introduced himself with a reckless aerial challenge which left both himself and Kilmarnock defender Will Boyle needing treatment. The former Preston striker continued with his combative approach and was fortunate to escape a booking for a penalty-box dive. It was not difficult to tell why Garner committed the most fouls in the Sky Bet Championship last season and he will give Rangers another dimension to their play.

JOHN SOUTTAR IS BECOMING A POTENTIAL OPTION FOR SCOTLAND'S CENTRAL DEFENCE

The paucity of Scottish centre-backs was highlighted by the fact that 36-year-old Gordon Greer kept his place in Gordon Strachan's squad for a new qualifying campaign. But Souttar is emerging as a possible alternative to Greer, Grant Hanley, Russell Martin and Christophe Berra. The 19-year-old was shunted between midfield, full-back and central defence at Dundee United but he produced another solid and composed display in the middle of the Hearts back four during the 2-1 win over Partick Thistle as he continues to keep club captain Alim Ozturk out the team.

DUNDEE HAVE A SOLID ADDITION IN KEVIN GOMIS

Manager Paul Hartley felt his new signing from Nice "strolled" through their goalless draw at Motherwell days after joining from Nice. The 27-year-old centre-back has strength and composure and helped Dundee keep their first Premiership clean sheet in 10 matches.

RANGERS HAVE GONE OFF MESSAGE

Mark Warburton branded his team's first-half performance at Kilmarnock the worst of his spell at Ibrox as the fluidity and style of last season appears a distant memory. The use of both natural sitting midfielders Jordan Rossiter and Joey Barton appears to have stalled Rangers' dynamism with the movement offered by the likes of injured duo Jason Holt and Josh Windass badly missed.
