Aldi customers in Strathaven now have the chance to raise funds for a food bank of their choice.

The popular Supermarket Sweep challenge is back for another year and will run until May 12 at Aldi’s store on Waterside Street.

Launched in 2016, the challenge invites customers to participate in a five-minute trolley dash around the store collecting as many items as they can.

The cash value of the chosen goods will then be donated to a food bank of the participant's choice.

The challenge, inspired by the celebrated game show, allows those taking part to double the donation and take home a SpecialBuy item of their choice of up to the value of £50 if they find the hidden inflatable in-store.

Graham Nicolson, regional managing director at Aldi Scotland, said: "The Supermarket Sweep holds a special place in the Aldi calendar, and we are very much looking forward to its return for another year.

"We are excited to offer one lucky Strathaven resident the chance to enjoy a truly unique supermarket experience.

“In 2024, Aldi Scotland’s Supermarket Sweep will be travelling all over Scotland.

"Not only does the initiative provide a brilliant way to raise funds for local foodbanks, but it also gives our loyal customers the chance to stock up on their favourite Aldi products.”

Shoppers will be asked to nominate their chosen food bank.

Entrants must be 18 years old and above to take part and alcohol products are not included in the sweep.

Entry is free and customers can apply in-store or by e-mailing supermarketsweep@aldi.co.uk.

Entrants must be available to take part in the sweep after stores close at 10pm on their chosen date.
