An eight-year-old girl is being treated in hospital after she was reportedly stabbed at a house in Edinburgh.
Police Scotland were called to a property in the city at around 1.35am on Wednesday.
The young girl was found with serious injuries and was rushed to the Royal Hospital for Sick Children for treatment.
A 48-year-old woman was also found injured and taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary. Her condition is not thought to be life-threatening.
Officers said they are not looking for anyone else over the incident.
A force spokesman said: "Police in Edinburgh were called to an address at 1.35am on Wednesday.
"An eight-year-old girl was found with serious injuries and taken to the Royal Hospital for Sick Children.
"A 48-year-old woman was also taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary with serious but non life-threatening injuries.
"Inquiries are ongoing into the full circumstances, however officers are not currently looking for anyone else in connection with the incident."
