A newly community-owned sports hub has been handed a cash boost to support the venture.

The Park Villa Community Sports Hub has received £1000 from Elderpark Housing Association in Govan and one of its suppliers CX-Feedback.

Park Villa football development has taken over the management of the former Glasgow Club-Drumoyne in an asset transfer from the council.

The facility in Langlands Road has a floodlit pitch, three grass pitches suitable for football and rugby, a four-court sports hall and dance studio/fitness studios which are also suitable for sports like boxing. It was built in 2010 as part of the Drumoyne Campus which also includes Pirie Park Primary School.

Tracey McGilp of Park Villa added: “We can’t thank Elderpark Housing and CX-Feedback enough.

“As we embark on this new venture the money has already been put to good use and the community is the undoubted beneficiary.”

While Park Villa’s long-standing mission is the promotion of football the hub offers other sports and wellbeing opportunities such as a gym, boxing, dance, skating, badminton and yoga

Gary Dalziel, Chief Executive of Elderpark Housing, said: “We are delighted to have teamed up with our supplier CX-Feedback to deliver this donation to the important work of Park Villa and wish them well in their new endeavour with the hub. The timing couldn’t be better as this important venue reopens under the stewardship of Park Villa.”

Johnathan Briggs, Chief Executive of CX-Feedback said: “Park Villa’s enthusiastic vision for taking over the running of Glasgow Club Drumoyne is to be commended as it builds on its impressive track record of football development. We are passionate about helping support the communities that our customers serve.”

The transfer was one of many across the city under the council’s People Make Glasgow Communities programme.
