The accident, which involved a Seat Leon and a Dacia Logan, occurred at 8.50am on Sunday on the A71 at Drumclog, Strathaven.
A 46-year-old woman who was driving the Seat was taken to Wishaw General Hospital, where her condition is described as stable.
