A MAN was injured in a terrifying attack in Shettleston.

A 44-year-old man shouted for help after he was assaulted by a man on Tollcross Road near Lidl last night, around 7.30pm.

The victim was approached by a man, thought to be in his late 40s, when he was walking across from Tollcross Park and got into an argument with him.

He was then attacked before the culprit fled.

Police are looking to speak to anyone who was nearby at the time of the attack, particularly people who were in the Lidl car park who may have heard the victim shout for help.

The attacker is described as white, around 5ft 6in tall, of medium build with short grey hair.

He was wearing a black 'tammy' style hat, black jacket and jeans.

Detective Sergeant Ainsley Stewart, who is dealing with this enquiry, said: "This was a frightening attack for the man concerned, who sustained a serious facial injury in the attack. From our initial enquiries we know that there were a number of people in the car park at the nearby Lidl, and the victim did shout for help over to them. I'd be keen to speak to anyone who was in the vicinity of Lidl and who may have witnessed the attack to come forward.

"The area in which the assault took place is very residential with a number of flats nearby and is usually very busy with pedestrians and motorists, so I am confident there will be people out there who may have seen the altercation and subsequent assault take place. I'd be very keen to speak to any nearby residents who may have witnessed something to come forward, as their information may help to identify who was responsible."
