A SERIAL offender has been giving a second chance by a sheriff after committing a number of crimes including biting a man and hitting another over the head with a wooden chair.

Maxine Craig, 32, appeared from custody at Glasgow Sheriff Court after pleading guilty to several offences.

The Procurator Fiscal depute told the court Craig had struck a man on the back of the head with a small wooden chair following an argument.

This incident happened in the Calton’s Moncur Street on May 6, 2014.

Her victim was left with a bloody nose, and several cuts to head and face following the assault in which she also hit him with her hands.

This year, at a flat in Bridgeton’s Landressy Street on January 25 she assaulted another man and bit him on the hand to his injury.

She also stole meat and various beauty items worth £149.80 from Tesco Extra at the Forge on April 11.

Those items were fully recovered.

Another charge stated that she breached bail conditions.

Craig’s defence agent told the court that his client had been leading a chaotic lifestyle for a number of years.

Sentencing sheriff Neil J MacKinnon placed her under supervision for 18 months and told her to attend the 218 Project and Tomorrow’s Women.
