A Glasgow driver has slated supermarket giant Tesco for more than doubling the price of AIR at its petrol stations.

Drivers who want to blow their tyres up now have to pay 50p- that's 30p more than they used to.

The supermarket claims Scots are actually getting a good deal because they can use the air for five minutes now, compared to the two minutes they were originally allocated.

However, the new price hasn't gone down well with some motorists.

Gerry MacDonald from Glasgow posted on Faceboook:"I was standing like a ticket at the air pump at Tesco having just put my 20p in to do the tyres.

With nothing happening I pressed the buttons.... nothing happened.... went in to the kiosk to be told: "Aye son, up to 50p. There's a big sign. Good thing is, you get 5 minutes."

He added: "That's fine and dandy if you're putting air into 30 tyres but i only needed to fill up 4.... So I went round the car seven times to get my money's worth. 50p."

The price rise now makes Tesco the dearest for air. Rival supermarket Morrisons charge 20p for two minutes and Asda 20p for four tyres. However, at Sainsbury's garages the air is free.
